AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class will start October 17th at 6 pm and run for 6 weeks. The puppies need to be at least 12 weeks old and be vaccinated for rabies. Please bring your Rabies certificate, poop bags, and a dog brush. This is a program designed by AKC to:
- Provide socialization for your puppy
- Provide basic early training
- Teach owners about responsible dog ownership
- Teach owners about appropriate exercise and activity for their puppy.
At the end of the class the puppies will be tested and awarded an AKC S.T.A.R. puppy Certificate for passing the training requirements.
The instructor is Rae Irvine.
Rae has been training dogs since 1976 - starting with Border Collies. She took cattle herding classes with her Border Collie while in college and although she trained dogs in herding, did not compete until she got German Shepherds and trained them in Schutzhund (IPO). Starting in 2002 she earned several IPO and tracking titles with her dogs. She switched to working Standard Poodles when her daughter and son both became attached and married partners who were highly allergic to fur. She became fascinated with the breed and has shown in Conformation and earned Rally, Trick and CGC titles with her dogs. She enjoys activities with her dogs and grandkids.
Allison Fitzgerald is a CGC evaluator who will be testing the puppies. Allison came through a local 4-H program and focused on showing in conformation. She shows and trains beagles and her young Malinois.
Class size: 6 puppies they need a lot of hands on.
The testing is the last class.
